This will be an epic tour, a once in a livetime experience, through six countries with famous travel writer and African expert, Mike Copeland, as tour leader. Mike has published four travel guides – Cape to Cairo, Mozambique, Namibia and Botswana – and is the author of numerous magazine articles on his African travels. Mike is an explorer in the true sense of the word – just like David Livingstone was for nearly 30 years!

Do you yearn to go off-the-beaten track, experience new cultures and become one with wildlife and nature! If your answer is yes, then this journey will make your dreams of exploration come true!

Live the Journey in conjunction with Uri Adventures has compiled an exciting new route that includes the Khaudom, Mamili, the Caprivi and Botswana.

The north-eastern section of Namibia is a relatively undiscovered tourist destination. Driving through heavy sand areas and gravel plains makes this an ideal destination for off road enthusiasts. The vegetation and eco systems vary keeping the route interesting with ever-changing landscapes.

The Khaudom is an old Kalahari sandveld region of flat clay pans and dry fossil riverbeds. The riverbeds are interspersed with reed beds and waterholes that tap into underground water sources. Sand dunes are also intermingled in the landscape.

This adventure promises to satisfy the hunger for wildlife, adventure and to experience off-road endurance while being part of God’s magnificent creation.

This will be an experience of a lifetime… join us!

Join us on “The Highwayman’s Adventure Route” on deep sand tracks through the vast expanse of Southern Africa’s largest conservation area.

The 06 Feb trips commence at Khama Rhino Sanctuary, we wend our way south, camping “rough” in the bush, to where the adventure ends in Nossop. The 19 Feb trip does the reverse journey from Nossop to Khama Rhino Sanctuary.

Towards the end of summer, presuming reasonable rains have fallen in the area, the Kgalagadi is noted for its large number of resident eagles, such as the Martial, Tawny, Black Breasted, Snake and Bateleur. These are joined in February and March by the migrant raptors, the Booted Eagle and Steppe Buzzard, and the rare Lesser Spotted Eagle.

We hope to be there when the numbers of eagles will be at their highest. However, we must not forget all the other wildlife we expect to see in the harsh but magnificent Kgalagadi Trans-frontier.

Once a year around the month of October, the northern canals of Botswana’s Okovango Delta begin to bubble and boil with activity. This unique natural phenomenon is known as the Barbel Run, and is an occurrence that is unique to this part of the world. The feeding frenzy starts as the water level of the mighty Okavango River starts to drop, which brings small fish from adjacent flood plains into the river system.

This in turn draws millions of barbell that go after the smaller fish, which subsequently attracts birds, crocodiles and Africa’s most vicious fresh water predatory fish – the Tiger fish. Come and join us for 5 days of ‘catch and release’ Tiger fishing in these beautiful surroundings.

The best way to do this is in the comfort your own vehicle and camping in the primitive but interesting campsites. To enhance this “Wild-African” experience, the number of clients on this tour is limited to twelve persons only.
