Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Marrakesh – there is so much to discover. No other African country can boast such natural diversity of landscape, climate and sheer variety of experience. Morocco takes you back in time, not only in terms of culture, but also in nature.

Johannesburg to Casablanca

Arrival Casablanca
Welcome to Morocco! Our team will meet you outside the arrivals hall for your hotel transfer. The afternoon is at leisure. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.
Casablanca – Rabat
After breakfast, we enjoy a tour of Casablanca including architectural treasures of the city such as Hassan II Mosque, Parc de La Ligue Arabe, Place Mohammed V, Place des Nations Unies, Habous Quarter and the Royal Palace exterior. After a light lunch, continue to the hotel for check-in. Dinner at the hotel.
Rabat
Enjoy breakfast, and then we set off on our Rabat city tour. The exploration of Rabat begins at the exterior of the Dar al-Makhzen Palace, the residence of Morocco’s King. Then on to the Mohammed V Mausoleum, dedicated to the founder of modern Morocco. Observe the minaret of the Great Mosque and the towering 12th-century red sandstone Hassan Tower. Visit the National Museum of Ornaments, where more than 3 500 pieces of King Mohamed VI’s Berber jewellery collection are on display along with Caftans and other pieces of traditional costumes. Enjoy a short stroll along the lanes of the Andalusian gardens to a look-out point in the Kashab to admire the view across the Atlantic. After a light lunch, enjoy some free time.
Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, we will depart for Chefchaouen. Nestled high in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is famous for its buildings washed in bright shades of blue – this is undeniably one of the world’s prettiest cities. After lunch, we enjoy a sightseeing tour of the medina. We explore its winding alleyways, cobbled plazas and unique doorways and find out what makes the city so alluring. Dinner at the hotel.
Chefchaouen – Meknes – Fez
After breakfast, depart towards Fez. En route, visit the archaeological site of Volubilis, a World Heritage graced with many beautiful buildings. A local guide will bring the ruins alive during a walking tour. After the visit, we proceed to Meknes, another of the Imperial Cities, to view the many treasures within, including Bab Mansour, which has been under restoration for the last couple of years, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail with its beautiful tile work. After lunch, depart for Fez, where upon arrival, the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Dinner at the hotel.
Fez
After breakfast, we will meet our guide for an in-depth guided walking tour of the Fes medina. We will explore the walled city on foot, stopping at ancient mosques, beautiful madrasas, and colourful souks to learn more about local crafts and lifestyle. We’ll explore the narrow, winding alleyways with our knowledgeable guide who will enlighten us on all the historic sites along the way. We’ll visit the top Islamic sites, including Bou Inania Madrasa, and view the courtyard of the beautiful Kairaouine Mosque and University from the outside. Other points of interest along our route include Boujloud Square and the Nejjarine Fountain. Experience craftsmen at work – weaving, pottery, ceramics and leather – and a chance to see the Chouara Tannery, packed with round stone vessels filled with colourful leather dyes. The day ends with a drive past the City Palace and through the Jewish Quarter. Dinner at the hotel.
Fez – Midelt – Erfound – Merzouga
After an early breakfast, depart on a long day’s drive towards Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains via Ifran, a Moroccan ski resort. Crossing mountains and continuing west toward the great Sahara, we reach the village of Midelt, where we will stop for a light lunch. From Erfoud, travel in 4×4 vehicles to the Merzouga Dunes and our Berber camp. At sunset, enjoy a short camel ride followed by dinner at our luxury tented camp. After dinner, you have the evening at leisure to enjoy the campfire with local music and song.
Merzouga – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Enjoy the sunrise over the Sahara dunes before breakfast, after which we return to Erfoud in the 4×4 vehicles. In Erfoud, visit a unique outlet that manufactures articles from marble with embedded fossils before making our way to the oasis of Tinghir and the Todra Gorge. After a light lunch, continue to Ouarzazate via the road of the thousand kasbahs and the Dades Valley where roses bloom in profusion in the springtime. Arrive early evening in Ouarzazate. Dinner at the hotel.
Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, we visit a Berber carpet outlet before driving to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a ksar – or fortified city, along a former caravan route, enjoying its desert-dusted Kasbahs and maze-like warrens. After lunch, we make our way to the city of Marrakesh, travelling the highest pass in the Atlas Mountains en route to Marrakech. Dinner at the hotel.
Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
Today we will discover historic and exotic Marrakesh. Our tour begins at Majorelle Gardens and Museum, a botanical marvel set in the heart of Marrakesh with over 300 plant species from five continents. Next, we visit Koutoubia, a 12th-century Mosque and minaret, still topped with four copper globes. Bahia Palace, where 360 rooms were once adorned with Italian marble and Sudanese gold, is another highlight of our day, as is the richly decorated tombs of the Saadi Dynasty. After lunch you will enjoy a short horse and carriage ride through the streets of Marrakesh. In the afternoon, we will visit the souks and the famous Djemaa El Fna square, known for its dazzling display of acrobats, storytellers, and snake charmers. Dinner will be in the medina after which we will return to our riad for a good night’s rest.
Marrakech
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning before we enjoy an interactive cooking experience. Learn how to successfully prepare traditional Moroccan dishes from a local chef. The afternoon is at leisure for some last-minute shopping. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner.

After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to the airport for our departure flight.

Good to know
- South African Passport Holders require a visa to enter Morocco. Passports must be valid at least 6 months after the travel date, with sufficient blank pages. The Moroccan Embassy is in Pretoria. E-visas are available, subject to eligibility.
- Prices for flights, airport taxes, monument entrance fees or park fees may be changed without prior notice. This is beyond our control, and any increase levied will be payable by the traveller.
- A reasonable level of fitness is required for this tour. Guests should be able to comfortably walk around 5 kilometres during the day unaided on uneven terrain.
